phew

its been a while since ive updated. but i have new works to put up!

its been finals this week, and i just got out of my last class. i grabbed something to eat and came home and right now im putting off cleaning my apartment from tornado finals. what with projects and a new job, its been pretty hectic.

for this project, we had to research an artist on an era that we had studied in our history of fibers class and find how one influenced the other. i made the link that william morris had used old persian and turkish motifs and design aesthetics, so the project was to combine the two to create a different kind of artwork. as much as i hate william morris, this project wasnt that bad. the persians used animals encased in pearl roundels that faced away or towards each other, basically mirroring, so instead of half-dropping or having a 5-star pattern, morris had mirrored designs. he also used favoured ottoman flowers (carnations, tulips, hyacinths...) so i incorporated those. also the background is a satin/damask time with a traditional ottoman cintamani design, fashioned in the shape of a half-bricked ogee. i threw in a couple mythical senmurvs aswell, for good measure.

the quality of the photos isnt so great but i didnt want to upload fullsize tif files, because it would probably take like 5 years.

so here you go. im gonna attempt to clean my apartment. emphasis on attempt.

it's been a pretty crazy weekend. i got a new job at Alligator Soul which i started on saturday, worked last night and im already set to work thursday friday saturday and sunday this week. money would be great right about now.
also our friends from lithuania were in town from thursday until this morning and we always love it when they visit. its just a little taxing on our livers.

im attatching some images from my final project for my CAD class that i took winter quarter. theyre not very cohesive [at all] but my theme was replacing tradition stripe, damask, paisley and other motifs with different feathers from different breeds of birds, and map them onto electronics. it was a fun project but i used way to many colours, and a few too many straight repeats. but i learnt my lesson, and it will be interesting to see what i come up with in advanced CAD this coming fall.

the right halves of the images are cut off, and i dont know why. ill figure it out for the future.

this is the reason why im so lazy. maybe lazy isnt the right word; this is a great illustration of my priorities, which thankfully include schoolwork and designing. this is what my room in my old house used to look like. my new apartment looks pretty much the same. and my head isnt much better.

it's about time

cad design. photoshop. february 2009.

so im finally gonna get this freight train up and running. ill have to access my external hard drive when im not so lazy and upload some of my old work and photography. but as of right now ive been messing around with too many htmls for my liking.

right now im not in very creative classes; i have to catch up on some electives that ive been neglecting but over the summer i will be taking a weaving class [for the first time] which should be interesting. in the fall i will be taking advanced CAD design and advanced studio I, so i will have tons of stuff to upload [hopefully].

im also a creative writing minor so ill post some short stories or poems on here too. i wont bore you with my 15-page fiction stories but ill post some tidbits.

for now theres a little picture for you of a design that i created in photoshop, texture mapped onto my couch, with little jack.
