Life is short, leave evidence.

so i dont really know what to type in this as of yet. its a first blog entry and i guess more entries will have more of my work in the future.
as of right now im in florida for winter break, im headed up to connecticut for 2 weeks on the 6th to see kyle and for the meantime im gonna be down here shooting pictures for my dads business. so i guess ill be posting a couple of those on here.

ill leave you with a quote from a handout that my embellished surfaces teacher, Pam Wiley, gave to us in light of our impending final projects. it was the only thing anyone has ever said to me about art that made me feel passionate about what i do. awesome.

"If you are not passionate about what you are doing, you wont do it well. That passion is what will drive you to work beyond assignment, criteria, and your professors’ nagging voices. Find ways of working even when you are not. Being an artist is not like being and accountant…where you take classes that teach you how to be one, and then you are. Being an artist is an evolution, takes a life-long commitment, and is rigorous in practice. If you don’t like working hard, and if you don’t like what you do, then find what you do like. Life is short, leave evidence.
Take responsibility for your growth and commitment. Do it for yourself. Don’t do it for a grade or a degree. Do it because it is what you have to do and that it is the only thing that makes sense to do. Do it well. Give your viewers something to believe in.
Be honest. Be authentic. It’s about being unique. Don’t make art that looks like art, make art that is art. That comes from authenticity, honesty, digging deep, working hard.
Finally, remember that the most powerful gift you can give to yourself, and to the world around you, is to be unique, be creative, and love what you do."
